From Cain until Moses, for the all who choose not to serve G-d, mankind was not governed in a structured setting of government and was not accountable to G-d or his fellow man. For until the law was imputed there was no sin, (Rom 5:13). Before Cain made his choices, there was no accountability to anyone and no provision provided outside of the source of Life man in the image was one with the source.
Gen 4:26 ... then began men to call upon the name of the LORD
. This period then represents the start of two styles of governments. Those when men began to call upon the name of the LORD and those who were accountable to themselves.
Cain set up governments of slavery and coercion.
Gen 4:17 And Cain ... bare Enoch: and he builded a city,
This city represents the government, the polis (Greek word of allegiance to some system),the politics described under the new testament with the Greek word (G4172 polis), from the initial Hebrew word ,(H5892 ayr or city), with the original connotation of open arms to receive the source of Life. Later, subjectively, coming to mean ... excitement, anguish of terror without covenant with G-d for that source of Life.
I say subjectively with bias of learning because this government of slavery is not easy to see without more than this brief. Etymologically, (etymology in this context including the original letters of a word to determine a root concept for that word).
Essentially; The Head of man is represented with open arms of provision to all in the open arms of the resh, [(the R in the Hebrew word city (ayr)], open to embrace the source of Life, (represented by the A, Alef).
Cain's lineage begat Nimrod (H5248 rebellion) and ... He became King. Again we see the Resh, (the r) the head, now combined with the dalet, (the D), as the open door to provision . The nun (the n in Nimrod) being to sprout continued life and the mem, (the m in Nimrod), representing life in the blood . The snag is when the Nun, (the N -the seed), sprouts from the knowledge of good and evil becomes a factor of coercion and subjection separated from the the clean source of provision. This changes the whole connotation of polis (politic) to rebellion against the source of life. There is good within and evil within being separated from the source of life.
Gen 10:9 (Nimrod's) ... beginning of his kingdom was Babel
A mighty hunter before, (Gen 10:9), demands study to realize that Nimrod was the King and provider in much the same way governments of today operate. Nimrod was King contrary to G-d's plan to provide man in His image and every man following right in his own eyes based on the provision of Life and not based on government by kings and men.
Judges 17:6 In those days there was no king in Israel, but every man did that which was right in his own eyes.
Later government is imputed with law and Of the increase of his government (H4951 misra) and peace there shall be no end, upon the throne of David, and upon his kingdom, to order it, and to establish it with judgment and with justice from henceforth even for ever. The zeal of the LORD of hosts will perform this Isa 9:7.
The head of government was the head of the house under G-d.
With the introduction of a King under Samuel we see the corruption of head of household in the government of king to man. (Psa 24:8 Who is this King of glory?
Psa 24:10 Who is this King of glory? The LORD of hosts, he is the King of glory. Selah.)
We have a king of glory sitting forever governing as the source of provision and extenuated with a messiah.
John 12:34 The people answered him, We have heard out of the law that Christ abideth for ever: ... who is this Son of man?
Pro 30:4 Who hath ascended up into heaven, or descended? ... what is his name, and what is his son's name, if thou canst tell?
1Co 15:25 For he must reign, till he hath put all enemies under his feet.
Kingdom denotes King.
1Co 15:24 Then cometh the end, when he shall have delivered up the kingdom to G-d, even the Father; when he shall have put down all rule and all authority and power. For he must reign, till he hath put all enemies under his feet. The last enemy that shall be destroyed is death. For he hath put all things under his feet. But when he saith all things are put under him, it is manifest that he is excepted, which did put all things under him. And when all things shall be subdued unto him, then shall the Son also himself be subject unto him that put all things under him, that G-d may be all in all.
