Trusts and the Church

Trust or Faith

The relationships and concepts that man uses in the systems he creates have existed long before our present vocabulary to describe them were established. It is important that we look beyond the words to the intent and more so to the precepts upon which these relationship are established.

Isaiah 28:10 For precept [must be] upon precept, precept upon precept; line upon line, line upon line; here a little, [and] there a little:

It is also important to realize that there is always a bigger universe than we perceive and often deeper meanings to what we see as reality. Principles, concepts and precepts are often repeated on many levels of creation and each one may be on a greater or higher level of perfection.

Matthew 5:48 Be ye therefore perfect, even as your Father which is in heaven is perfect.

God is the same today as He was yesterday yet man may have changed and therefore his relationship with his Creator may also change. Just as a Father's relationship changes with His children as they grow up and mature.

In this section we are dealing with the concept of trusts. Trusts are easier to understand if we realize that trust, belief and faith are similar and even synonymous terms.

Luke 16:11 If therefore ye have not been faithful in the unrighteous mammon, who will commit to your trust the true [riches]?

Although the term trust is of fairly recent origin the relationship of the word trust stems back to the earliest dates of Man's history.

A trust is simply when property given to a trustee to manage for the benefit of a third person. A trust is an agreement under which one person transfers title to specific property to another who agrees to hold or manage it for the benefit of a third person.

The basics of a trust may repeat themselves over and over but there are also many differences and variations within that general outline. The status of the property, trustee and grantor may seriously alter the specific nature of a trust.

In the ancient Gothic languages trost or trust meant a covenant. But in Webster's Revised Unabridged Dictionary (1913) Trust is defined as,

"An equitable right or interest in property distinct from the legal ownership thereof; a use (as it existed before the Statute of Uses);"

If you have not yet grasped the difference between and equitable right and a legal title or ownership it is important that you become familiar with the difference. A legal title is not true ownership of the property, granting no right to the beneficial use while an equitable title holder is the one whom the law considers to be the true owner of the property. It is suggested that you study Law vs. Legal

There is also a reference to that difference in title or ownership as existing in a different way before the Statute of Uses than it did after. To more fully grasp these differences will began to open our understanding on this subject. Webster goes on to say a trust is:

"also, a property interest held by one person for the benefit of another. Trusts are active, or special, express, implied, constructive, etc. In a {passive trust} the trustee simply has title to the trust property, while its control and management are in the beneficiary."

We can see by this definition that there are many kinds of trusts. more than are mentioned in this definition. We offer the information contained here and individual counseling to help you understand the teachings of Jesus Christ and the nature of His Church and the will of the Father in Heaven.

As you study these pages we hope that you will be aided to understanding the truth of History and your place in it, the nature of the Church and where you stand with it and the Character of God and your relationships to Him.
